EPISCOPAL BISHOP TO VISIT
HILLCREST
The new Episcopal Bishop of San Diego, the Rt Revd James Mathes, will
make his first official visit to All Saint’s Church in Hillcrest on Sunday
September 11th. Bishop Mathes was ordained as bishop of San Diego in
March. The Rector of All Saint’s, Fr Tony Noble, said that the parish is
eagerly looking forward to his first pastoral visit.
“I have had several meetings with him”, Fr Tony said,
“and have found him to be a good listener, with a real concern for the
parishes, their priests and people. He has a passion for reaching out in love
for Christ to the whole community. He is in tune with what we are trying to do
at All Saints’, and our concern for the local community”.
Bishop Mathes will preach at both Services on Sunday September 11th.
The 8 am Service is Low Mass. The 10 am Service is High Mass, and the Bishop
will be the celebrant. The Service will include special music by the choir, and
will begin with a traditional Liturgical reception of a Bishop.
There will be opportunity for people to meet the Bishop at coffee hour
after each Service.
All Saint’s Church is on the corner of 6th & Pennsylvania
Ave, Hillcrest.
