FROM
THE RECTOR, August 10th 2005
ASSISTANT
PRIESTS
On Sunday
July 3rd we said farewell to Fr Robert Trebbe. He has accepted a
position assisting in the parish of All Saints', Vista. We expressed our
appreciation for what Fr Robert and Deann have contributed to the school and
parish.
Fr Victor
Krulak is now assisting me in Fr Robert's place. He will assist at 10 am High
Mass, and be available for pastoral ministry as necessary. I will usually
preach at both Masses each Sunday.
I have
appointed Fr Wayne Sanders to teach religion at the school. We are glad to
welcome Fr Wayne back to All Saints’ after a distinguished ministry at the
Church of the Good Samaritan.
I
continue to be grateful to Fr Krulak and our other associate priests, Frs
Edwards, Thrumston & Barta, for their assistance and support.
SCHOOL
The new
plan for the school is taking shape, and it is an exciting new chapter for us.
We now have a full complement of teachers for the combined grades, and Miss
Christine Watling is thriving as the new Principal. I know some parishioners
are concerned that the school is still operating with a deficit budget. The
Vestry accepted a $100,000 deficit for this year, in the belief that the
changes in the school will turn it around financially. That means only 20 new
students.
BISHOP’S
VISIT
It will
be a great occasion when Bishop Mathes visits us for his first pastoral
visitation on Sunday September 11th. He will preach at 8am Low Mass,
& at 10 am he will be the celebrant & preacher for the High Mass. After
a reception in the parish hall he will meet with the Vestry.
PERSONAL
Some of
you will know that in May I was diagnosed with the early stage of prostate
cancer. I will be having surgery in mid-September. It will mean 2 weeks
recovery and a slower pace for a month. I don't like that idea! Please keep me
in your prayers, and I thank you in advance.
